29 नवम्बर 1963 को जन्मी शरद सिंह किशोरावस्था से ही साहित्य सृजन से जुड़ी हैं। खजुराहो की मूर्तिकला पर पी-एच.डी. करने वाली सुश्री सिंह ने आकाशवाणी, दूरदर्शन एवं यू.जी.सी. के लिए पटकथा लेखन, धारावाहिकों का लेखन एवं फिल्म संपादन किया है।

शरद सिंह की कहानियों एवं उपन्यासों में नए कथ्य की खोज व कहन मिलती है। वह समाज में उपस्थित उन बिन्दुओं पर लिखना पसन्द करती हैं जो प्रायः अछूते रह जाते हैं। स्त्री जीवन का सूक्ष्म विश्लेषण इनके कथानकों की एक विशेषता है।
